Summer community festival to showcase the best of Catford SE6 with food, art, music and comedy

Catford’s summer community celebration returns next month, bringing an exciting programme of art, music, comedy, street food and activities for all ages to the town centre.

It will showcase the best of SE6.

Organised by Lewisham Council with local partners, businesses and community groups, the Catford Community Festival will enable residents to celebrate their local area and discover how the nieghbourghood is developing.

Last year’s festival, the Big Catford Weekender, brought more people into Catford town centre, with daily footfall up seven per cent, giving an important boost to the high street and local businesses.

This year, the main festival event will take place on Saturday June 27 from 11am until 5pm, filling Catford Broadway with a host of activities for all the family – street food, music and art. The Broadway will be closed (except emergency vehicle access) from 7.30am until 6.30pm.

In the run up to the main event there will be the Catford Foodie Trail celebrating Catford’s incredible food and drink scene. From Friday June 20 to Sunday June 28, visitors can follow the trail to discover must visit venues and exclusive offers.

There will be a one-off comedy fundraiser – Stand Up – for Lewisham Donation Hub, taking place at the Broadway Theatre on Saturday June 27.

The stellar line-up will include Reginald D Hunter, Nabil Abdulrashid, Abi Clarke, Nathan Caton, Radu Isac, Russell Hicks and Shazia Mirza. .

The full festival programme will be announced on Friday 5 June.
