Leisure centres across south London will be flinging open their doors at the end of this month, offering local people the chance to try out a range of sports and classes for free.

‘Better’s’ Open Weekend takes place nationwide on Saturday November 23 and Sunday November 24 with the aim of tempting people of all ages into finding out how much fun it can be to become fit and healthy.

Centres across Lewisham run by social enterprise Better will be offering free gym slots, aerobics classes and swimming sessions.

In addition, there will be free softplay times at Wavelengths and softplay, arts and crafts, and face painting at Bellingham Leisure Centre.

SFactor Athletics Academy will be joining ‘Better’ staff at Ladywell Arena, offering free athletics trials for kids 7-15 years old between 10 and 12pm on Saturday and on Sunday, customers will be able to have a spin round the athletics track for free from 10 to 3pm.

Free day passes for any of the centres may be booked from 21 November via the following link – www.better.org.uk/open-weekend

Leisure centres in Croydon, Greenwich, Lewisham and Merton are run by charitable social enterprise GLL under the ‘Better’ brand.

Supporting the wellbeing of local communities is an important part of the organisation’s ethos.
