Mayor’s awards celebrate local businesses that supported community through Covid pandemic

The Mayor’s business awards which celebrate the borough’s brilliant local businesses are back for 2021.

Local businesses have done a great job supporting the community during the pandemic and have been at the forefront of  the borough’s economic recovery from Covid-19.

After a hard  18 months, this is the community’s chance to say a big ‘thank you’ to the independent businesses that have made a difference.

Councillors are encouraging residents and businesses to take part, and are urging local people to nominate businesses in their own wards.
The winners will be revealed on November 10.

This year there are six categories to acknowledge the strength, determination and creativity shown by local businesses throughout the pandemic, as well as the part they are now playing in boosting the borough’s economic recovery.
These are:
  Growth Builder
Best Cultural, Creative or Night Time Economy Business
Social Value
  Innovation and Resilience
  Community Space
Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Businesses have until September 19 to either nominate themselves for awards, or be entered by their customers, suppliers or partners in as many of the six categories as are applicable.

More information and guidance for each category, as well as the nomination form, can be found on the Mayor’s Business Awards webpage.
