Hilly Fields Midsummer Fayre looking for volunteers

Hilly Fields Midsummer Fayre: the foundation of Brockley Society’s activities

The annual Hilly Fields Midsummer Fayre, organised by the Brockley Society, is taking place on Saturday 22 June 2019. The event is entirely volunteer-run – if you are looking for a way to get involved with your community, there is no better place to start, as there is a range of activities you can help with!

Here is the Brockley Society’s appeal for volunteers:

The fayre is as old as Brockley Society itself and is the foundation of the society’s activities and funds, deeply embedded in our community. Those who came to the fayre as children now bring their own children and even grandchildren to what is still our local “village fair”.

What will we have? Around 200 stalls: art and crafts, community, bric-a-brac, food-related. Free children’s activities, an animal farm, fairground rides. Arena displays including birds of prey, dog show and local performers. Food stalls, a beer tent, and somewhere to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and cake — particularly appreciated by seniors. We expect over 5,000 people on the day.

Volunteers
The fayre has always been, and continues to be, run entirely by volunteers and we need many of you —  nearly 120 volunteers in rotas on the day. There is a role for everyone, regardless of your skills, knowledge or time. See the different roles and time commitments at:
www.brockleysociety.org.uk/hilly-fields-midsummer-fayre/
or express your interest by emailing: volunteer@brockleysociety.org.uk

Programme distribution
We need programme distributors now. Can you help distribute 8,000 free programmes? To schools, churches, stations, on the high street, on Hilly Fields and in the parks … Email chair@brockleysociety.org.uk to tell us what you can do (we have several pick-up points).
* Could you drop bundles to any of 13 local churches, around 10am, on Sunday 16th June?

Cakes
Don’t forget our wonderful tea and cake stall in the marquee! We depend on  donated home made cakes so please consider baking something to bring on the day!

We look forward to seeing you at the fayre!
