Met police launch community crime fighting email service

The Metropolitan police has launched a new community crime fighting tool – Met Engage.

“Through our new platform Met Engage you can get to know your local officers, help shape how we police your local area and have direct access to key information and advice.”

The Met says its an opportunity for Londoners to engage with community policing and for residernts to tell the Met about what’s concerning them most so the police “can take action on the things that truly matter.”

A Met Engage email will provide local communities with “crime prevention advice, information about community events and meetings, updates on ongoing incidents and investigations, and information about successful outcomes and operations”.

People who sign up to the service will be asked to complete a survey, where they’ll be able to select where they live and choose the type of alerts they’d like to be informed about. This means the messages they receive will be specifically tailored to them.
