Hilly Fields Midsummer Fayre will celebrate its 51st year on June 20. The community event, organised by the Brockley Society, brings togther thousands of residents on Hilly Fields.

It is one of Brockley’s biggest and best events, contributing hugely to the unique character of the area. Attendance on the day is regularly over 5,000, and for many people in the area it is a real highlight of the summer.

The fayre started with just a handful of stalls half a century ago. Now It features a wide range of arts, crafts, community, bric-a-brac and food-related stalls as well as delicious hot and cold foods, refreshing ales, singing and dancing, charity displays, competitions, a birds-of-prey display, fun fair, animal farm and much much more

Entry is entirely free, with funds for community projects raised via the on-site prize draw, BBQ, and stall bookings.

The Ladywell Society will run a stall at the fayre with the history and latest information on the Playtower; a short online survey to find out what matters most to the people who live, work or study in Ladywell; and society founder Robert Smith’s second book on the history and mystery of the Lady Well;
