The Felix Project, the food redistribution charity, is again teaming up with Better, which runs leisure centres in partnership with Lewisham council, to give away more fresh fruit and vegetables.
The Free Food Giveaway will be at Bellingham leisure centre, Randlesdown Road SE6 3BT on Wednesday December 10 from 1.00-3.00pm.
People are asked to bring bags, boxes and trolleys to take home a variety of fresh produce.

Social enterprise GLL which hosted charity the Felix Project for a “Free Good Giveaway’at Bellingham Leisure and Lifestyle Centre is planning more giveaways over coming months.
GLL, which runs leisure centres under the Better brand in partnership with Lewisham council, helped distribute more than 4.5 tonnes of food to 180 residents including churches and faith groups which will use the produce for community meals.
The Felix Project is London’s largest food redistribution charity which aims to reduce waste and tackle food poverty. It rescues high quality, surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and redistributes it to over 1,200 community organisations across the capital.
In recent months, The Felix Project has run similar, highly-successful giveaways at ‘Better’ leisure centres in New Addington, Britannia and Burnt Oak, and now plans to do more in Lewisham.
Lewisham’s Cllr Krupski, Deputy Mayor and Environment, Transport and Climate Action, helped promote the event and expressed her support for helping with future collaborations.
Matthew Houghton, GLL’s Community Sport Manager in the borough, said there had been lots of positive feedback from the event and Felix was keen to deliver another such event in future.
“By the time the two-hour slot had ended, we had managed to give away all of the potatoes and carrots, with a just a few cabbages and bananas left over.”
