UPDATE: Dexters open new office … but who is moving into the old one?

Dexters are delighted to have move into their new office – the old Coral betting shop.

But Dexters are remaining tight lipped about who is moving into their old office in the high street. Branch manager Ashley says “we’ve handed someone the keys already … but I can’t tell you who it is. You’ll know soon enough!”

But Ashley can tell us business is booming.

If you are a keen follower of the local property market, Ashley says: “We are carrying out more than 350 viewings a month between sales and lettings here in Ladywell so this strong demand means we are regularly receiving exceptional offers from great buyers and tenants and we expect this to continue throughout 2024.”

He thinks Ladywell “is an incredible area with a village charm” with its own bakery, greengrocer, pub and post office. “A great base for families and young professionsals alike.”

Yes … one of London’s hidden gems! Well it was.

Estate agent Dexters plan to move into their new offices at 228-230 Algernon Road – the old Coral betting shop – in Ladywell Village on June 3.

Local office manager Ashley Dawkins says the squatters, who had been occupying the flats above the shop unit for months, have now left.

The shop unit and double fronted flats above it, all owned by former bookmakers E Coomes, have long been an eyesore in the village and a source of friction with local residents who have campaigned for years to have the flats renovated and let.

Dexters is currently refurbishing the shop unit but Ashley said it was is unclear what will now happen to the flats which had been left empty for years and in a state of disrepair.

Dexters, which moved into a Ladywell about two years ago after taking over Sebastian Roche, say they have someone lined up to move into their current offices. .

Oscar’s couple Joel and Alina had been hoping to open a restaurant in the old Coral betting shop in Ladywell. But the squatters held up the project for more than a year and the deteriorating condition of the building had made the project too expensive for them to take on.

They have now opened Wilson’s wine bar and restaurant at No 77 Ladywell road, next door to Plenty.
