UPDATE: Proposed Co-op supermarket development, folk festival, and donation hub … top the agenda at the next Ladywell Assembly on March 23

Development at Ladywell car wash site

Local Assemblies bring together residents, councillors, the police, local organisations, and the wider community to decide on how to improve their neighbourhood local area. It’s your chance to have a say on whats going on in your area.

There will be lots to discuss at the next Ladywell Assembly. The draft agenda includes a police update and a report on the proposed development of the former car wash site on Ladywell Road. The residential development initially involved a gym. That was later changed and a Co-op supermarket was proposed. That’s been delayed for months by planning disputes.

There will also be feedback from an NCIL funded project – the Ladywell World Folk Music Festival and a presentation on the range of support and advice available at the Lewisham Donation Hub.

The next Ladywell Assembly meeting will take place on Thursday March 23 2023, from 7pm to 9pm at Gordonbrock Primary School, Gordonbrock Road, London SE4 1HQ.

Hot topics for the next Ladywell Assembly

There will be lots to discuss at the next Ladywell Assembly. The draft agenda includes a police update and a report on the planning application for a Co-op supermarket on the site of the old Ladywell car wash..

There’ll be a discussion on the council’s sustainable streets programme which aims to reduce air pollution and encourage more people to walk, cycle and use public transport.

And a  council officer will give a presentation on making Lewisham a Borough of Sanctuary which involves campaigning for migrant rights, celebrating the contributions refugees and asylum seekers make to the borough, and raising awareness of the issues these communities face.

Local councillors will give an update and there will be a short film on the Ladywell Folk Festival and Green Man parade which was supported by NCIL funding.

The assembly, which brings together residents, councillors, the police, and local organisations,  will be held on Thursday March 23 2023, from 7pm to 9pm at Gordonbrock Primary School, Gordonbrock Road, London SE4 1HQ. More details to come.
