The card to carry

Lewisham Local Card is a discount card given freely to volunteers who give their time for free in Lewisham.

It is an initiative of Rushey Green Time Bank and is designed to recognise the contribution people make towards improving their communities.

Lewisham Local covers all types of time giving – from traditional volunteering to time banking, and grassroots initiatives.

The card gives access to a growing number of favourable deals from local shops and businesses who want to support volunteers.

Local charities or community groups can give the card to their volunteers for free to thank them for their efforts.

So far more than 350 businesses across Lewisham have signed up to offer a discount.

More than 5,500 cards have been given out to volunteers.

And more than 220 local charities and community groups are giving the cards to their volunteers.

The initiative is also about strengthening the local economy by encouraging more people to use the borough’s independent shops and businesses.

Lewisham Local will be launching a new card for volunteers in June 2019 so watch this space for future announcements.

To find out more about Lewisham Local take a look at the video that explains more, profiles one of the many fantastic businesses in Ladywell, Honeybourne’s, as well as a local volunteer, Cat Chin.

Look at the website which explains more and gives the full list of local businesses that offer volunteers a discount.
