Gordonbrock primary school one of most popular in Lewisham

Gordonbrock primary school in Ladywell is one of the most popular Lewisham primary schools for the academic year of 2026 -2027, according to the latest figures from the Department for Education.

The data compares how many applications each school received against the number of places available for reception entry. It provides an overview of where demand was strongest, reports News Shopper.

At a number of schools, the level of interest was far igher than the places available, meaning some families missed out on their preferred choice.

Lewisham’s primary schools use localised admissions criteria- prioritising factors like siblings and proximity/straight-line distance. As a result your chances of getting the school of your choice depend heavily on exactly where you live.

Below is a table ranking the oversubscribed Lewisham primary schools. The borough has around 60 prmary schools.

The four most oversubscribed hree primary schools are:

John Ball Primary School (Blackheath, SE3 0TP) – Consistently oversubscribed with outstanding Ofsted ratings.
Gordonbrock Primary School (Brockley, SE4 1HQ) – Known for outstanding leadership and excellent results..
Downderry Primary School (Downham, BR1 5QL) – Rated outstanding.
Haberdashers’ Hatcham Free School (SE14 5SF) – Highly regarded for its exceptional academic standards and Ofsted outstanding’ rating.
