New investment in Fusion gyms – have you taken advantage of new equipment?

With the new year users of the Glass Mill Fusion gym will have noticed signs advertising a new £263,000 investment into refurbishing the gym.

The team at Fusion have explained that this is part of a £826,000 investment by them into the facilities at Glass Mill, Forest Hill Pools and Wavelengths. As part of this, there were also reallocations of existing equipment to improve the offering at The Bridge, Ladywell Arena and Bellingham.

The investment comes at a time of increased competition for Fusion. Fusion has a 15-year contract with Lewisham Council to run the Council’s leisure facilities. This contract commenced in October 2011 and was won in an open competition.

Steve Embleton, the Business Manager at Fusion Lifestyle in Lewisham told us: ‘This is funded by Fusion Lifestyle. All gyms at these sites will be refurbished including investment in audio visual, painting and some new flooring. All works were completed in late 2019 with further improvements due in early 2020.

In addition further investment has been made available through the council’s lifecycle and meetings are scheduled early 2020 to get these works underway.’

Glass Mill has already seen new equipment and new cleaning schedules established with the contractor responsible.

A second phase of the investment will begin in the Spring, with functional rigs also being installed. Fusion have also set up Meet the Manager monthly meetings with the management so that any issues can be raised then directly with them.

Are you a Fusion gym member? Have you taken advantage of the new equipment or activities? Or maybe you are using one of the other local gyms? Let us know!
