Folk festival, street trees, exercise equipment and safer streets project among 11 community projects recommended for NCIL funding in Ladywell ward

Eleven community projects have been recommended for NCIL funding in the Ladywell ward, including a folk music festival, street tree planting, a safer streets project and an application to fund exercise equipment for Hillyfields.

Ladywell residents will be asked to review and ratify these projects at the Ladywell Assembly meeting on January 20. (This will be an online meeting. Register here)

The eleven projects were chosen from 14 submitted to the council. They have been put forward by council officers after consultation with ward councillors.

The ward currently has a total of £62,923 of NCIL funding to allocate to local projects that address locally identified priorities and need.

The funds have been made available under Lewisham’s Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy scheme, part of the Community Infrastructure Levy which Lewisham charges on new developments in the borough. 

The eleven schemes with funding recommendation are:

Art in the Park . Max Media. £2,000

Street Tree planting scheme for Embleton Road & Ellerdale Street. £5,000

Friends of Brockleyl & Ladywell Cemetery. Information panels. £500

Better Streets – Hilly Fields. Road crossings. £5,000

Hilly Fields Community Exercise Project. Community facilities. £17,500

Ladywell Women’s Safety Project (LWSP). Street lighting and safety. £5,000

The Ladywell World Folk Music Festival. Ladywell Society. £8,000

-Building Resilience and support for young people. St Andrews Centre. £4,000

The Curve Community Garden. Curvy Block Residents Association. £3,500

Ladywell Assembly Organising Group. £2,400

Greenbanks Community Project. Children and Youth Services. £5,000

Come along to the Ladywell Local Assembly meeting to find out more about the projects proposed for funding and share your feedback.

This meeting will also discuss the latest progress on the renovation of the Ladywell Play Tower and there will be a  chance to meet and hear from the Mayor of Lewisham, Damien Egan.
