Vicky Foxcroft: Lisa is a savvy media performer and understands why we lost in our former heartlands
Following our party’s devastating defeat in December’s election, it is clear that our next leader has a tough fight ahead of them. While there are many fantastic candidates in the race, I believe that the best person to take on the job of holding the Tories to account and leading us back to power is Lisa Nandy.
Lisa is the candidate with the best understanding of why we lost so badly in our former heartlands, many of which had been Labour seats since their conception.
She knows that not only do we need to reach out to these voters and win them back, but as a former Hammersmith councillor she also understands how to build a red bridge between those seats and inner-city constituencies like Lewisham Deptford.
Lisa has already proven herself to be a savvy media performer, taking on the formidable Andrew Neil and showing that she is a force to be reckoned with at Labour hustings. It’s clear that the more people see of her, the more convinced they are that she is the woman for the job.

Momentum: Rebecca Long-Bailey was at forefront of Labour’s most popular policies and was committed to 2019 manifesto
The Lewisham Momentum Committee endorses Rebecca Long-Bailey for Leader of the Labour Party.
As member of the Shadow Cabinet, RLB has been at the forefront of some of Labour’s most popular policies in the 2017 and 2019 manifestos, including the Green New Deal.
It will be these policies that will win us the seats that we lost in 2019, and make substantial positive changes to the lives of the people of Lewisham.
Since the beginning of the campaign, RLB has been the only candidate to show commitment to the principles of the 2017 and 2019 manifestos, to democratising the economy, and to mandatory re-selection.
In upcoming weeks, CLPs around Lewisham will be holding their nominations meetings. We encourage Momentum and non-Momentum members alike to attend their respective CLP nomination meeting and vote for RLB #1.
