Transform your street into a play space for world Car Free Day

Lewisham will be celebrating World Car Free Day on Sunday September 22 2024 and is encouraging residents to hold traffic free Play Streets on their roads on Friday 20, Saturday 21 as well as Sunday 22.

Car Free Day offers a chance to transform your street into playful and social spaces where members of the community can come together to socialise safely, play, scoot, cycle and walk

Across London, more than 200 streets will be closed off to traffic, allowing communities to get together on the tarmac.

The charity London Play is giving away free spacehoppers and other play things for residents keen to try out a play street on their road.

In Lewisham, residents can apply to hold a traffic-free Play Street on the weekend of Car Free Day until Sunday September 8.

Interested residents can also email London Play to request free play equipment for a Play Street at info@londonplay.org.uk
