St Mary’s Therapeutic Garden granted Green Flag status

Volunteers at St Mary’s Therapeutic Garden and Churchyard were delighted to hear that they’ve just been granted Green Flag Status!https://uk.news.yahoo.com/two-lewisham-green-spaces-newly-040000238.html

The Green Flag is an internationally known standard that recognises green spaces for their accessibility, biodiversity, cleanliness, community involvement and safety. Lewisham now has 23 green spaces with Green Flag awards.

Under the direction of their gardener, Sue Luxton, the focus of all the gardening has been to increase biodiversity, as well as provide a place of beauty and peace for the whole community to enjoy.

They are currently crowdfunding to buy a second 1,900 litre waterbutt to collect water from St Mary’s Church roof, which will greatly reduce the use of mains water.
