Brockley & Ladywell Cemeteries open day: a host of guided tours, community stalls, refreshments and free admission

The Friends of Brockley & Ladywell Cemeteries are holding their 15th anniversary open day on Sunday July 10 from 11.00am until 4.30pm.

There will be a host of guided tours plus refreshments, exhibitions, a plant sale, and community stalls. Admission is free.

The cemeteries are well worth a visit. They are havens for wildlife, plants and flowers and places of great historical interest.  Lots of that local history has been well documented by Mike Guilfoyle, vice-chair of FoBLC, on Ladywell Live (see local history)

Access to the cemeteries is through the Brockley Road entrance from Brockley Rd SE4 2QY and the Ladywell entrance at Brockley Grove SE13 7HY.

The guided tours will take place at the following times:

11:30  –  Military heroes from 1802 to 1918 led by Peter Mealing;

12:30  –  Nature walk: the flora and fauna of both cemeteries led by Tom Moulton & Peter Robinson;

13:30  –  'Poets, Painters & Pirates' led by Mike Guilfoyle;

14:30  –  General tour of Brockley cemetery led by Jeff Hart;

15:30  –  Women of Brockley and Ladywell Cemeteries led by Julie Robinson. (NB: This tour is not suitable for children and contains references to murder and suicide.)
