Lewisham looks for community organisations to help manage Ladywell Arena sports venue

Lewisham council is inviting expressions of interest from community organisations interested in managing along with the council the Ladywell Arena sports venue.

The council says it wants to see the venue opened up more widely and its facilities improved “to to give more local people the opportunity to use it and help the next generation of budding athletes develop and train close to home.”

The council is contacting experienced and ambitious community sports organisations to see “if there is any appetite to work with us to manage the Arena.”

Any successful group would need to demonstrate how they would fully accommodate existing clubs and users, as well as generate external funding to improve facilities and attract more local residents to the Arena.

“At this early stage we simply want to gauge interest; depending on the response’s we receive, your organisation may be invited to progress to more detailed tender process later in the year.”

Organisations that are invited to engage in this process must work with London Sport to develop a community model of operation at Ladywell Arena to ensure that the facility serves the needs of the local community and encourages an increased usage of the facility for diverse audiences and markets.

Organisations can express their interest here
