Football’s coming home …. to Ladywell Arena

Ladywell Arena is fast becoming the top ground for local football teams.

Popular local club SE Dons has merged with Forest Hill Park and will now use the Ladywell Arena in Lewisham is their new home ground.a

The move also means the team can now compete in league games much to the delight of their fans.

Krzysztof Lasek, General Manager at Ladywell Arena, said: “We’re delighted to welcome SE Dons to our venue.

“They are known for their vibrant community spirit and loyal fanbase.
SE Dons FC brings a unique energy and positive atmosphere to LadywellArena, enhancing the overall experience for everyone involved.

“Their community-orientated approach and fostering a sense of togetherness make them a great partner. We’re hoping this collaboration will also boost visibility for our gym and running track.

“Additionally, we’re a fantastic venue for hosting a variety of events and birthday parties.”

Because of the team’s big fanbase, Ladywell staff have had to limit the number of tickets to watch games and also make sure that Football Federation standards and health and safety regulations have been adhered to for coping with larger crowds. Additional toilets and marshalls have also been provided.

The SE Dons’ first game earlier this month was – somewhat confusingly – against Lewisham, another of Ladywell’s home teams. “It’s healthy competition!” Krzysztof laughs.

Andrew McHugh, SE Dons’ owner, comments, “Playing at Ladywell Arena feels like a true homecoming, with many founding members born in Lewisham Hospital and raised in the borough.

Ladywell Arena is managed by charitable social enterprise GLL under the ‘Better’ brand. Supporting the wellbeing of local communities is an important part of the organisation’s ethos.
