Greening Lewisham – community groups invited to apply for funding

by Cerelia June 18, 2019

Community groups working to make Lewisham greener have until 23 June to apply for funds from Lewisham’s Greening Fund. The money can be spent on a range of projects that have as their aim improving green infrastructure, including benches, animal-proof bins, drinking fountains, soft landscaping, etc.

Lewisham’s Cabinet Member for the Environment, Waste and Recycling, Sophie McGeevor explained the rationale behind the new Fund: ‘Green spaces contribute to our quality of life. They bring together communities, create pleasant environments we want to spend time in and are key to improving air quality.’ She added about Lewisham’s community organisations: ‘We are very lucky to have so many fantastic park user groups and community organisations who work tirelessly to ensure our green spaces are protected and the best they can be. I encourage them all to apply for this funding to support the fantastic work they do.’

You can read more about the Fund and apply here.
