It’s the new normal at the Ladywell Tavern – booking in advance and ordering from your table with a smartphone app

The Ladywell Tavern will be welcoming customers back through its doors this weekend for the first time since lockdown began in March.

But you will quickly find out that your local is a little different. It’s the new normal!

Customers will first have to book a table in advance on the website, says Rosie the assistant general manager of the pub.

When you arrive at the Tavern you will be met at the door by a host who will show you to the table. There will also be hand sanitiser at the door and everyone will be encouraged to use it.

“All our tables are numbered. There’ll be a QR code on the table and you will have to download our app onto a smartphone to order drinks and food,” says Rosie.

People will not be expected to stand at the bar to order. “We want you to stay at your table and you will be served.” People will only need to get up from their tables for toilet trips

All customers will be expected to give their names and contact numbers when booking or as they arrive at the Tavern doors.

“It’s for everybody’s safety … if there is a case of Covid19 infection we need to be able to give details for contact tracing. All details will be deleted after 21 days if there are no cases of infection reported,” says Rosie.

People will be asked not to move any of the tables or chairs which have been carefully arranged to ensure social distancing.

“We will be open 12.00 until 11.00pm at the weekends and 5.00pm until 11.00pm Monday to Friday, “ says Rosie.

The Tavern hopes to be able to accomodate 80-100 customers at its tables inside and in the garden. A handful of people may be allowed in at the door but to make sure of a table it will be best to book in advance.

Mamma Dough will remain takeaway only for some time yet. Oscars is also being cautious. They will carry on with takeaway only for the time being. But Ladywell’s hairdressers are opening up as is Gently.

We will post further updates as we get them.
