Ladywell ward panel sets out three priorities for neighbourhood

Ladywell councillor Bill Brown reports on the recent ward panel meeting.

Councillor Liz Johnston-Franklin and I attended the recentLadywell Ward Panel, a meeting organised by the Metropolitan Police Ladywell Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT).

The panel is made up of residents, stakeholders such as resident associations, community groups, housing providers and local ASB managers.

Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams support the ward panel members by attending the meetings to provide updates on policing issues in the ward, considering concerns raised and responding to questions.

The ward panel defines local policing issues and agrees at least three priorities at each meeting for the SNT to tackle, then communicate these priorities within the ward.

The three top priorities are reviewed at every ward panel meeting to evaluate success, and to update the priorities
when appropriate.

The three priorities set at the meeting were:

Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)
Road Safety in Ladywell
Increasing the attendance at the Ladywell Ward Panel

Due to concerns with speeding traffic around Vicars Hill an application has been made for police mobile cameras to be provided, to collect data on speeding and dangerous drivers.

To report road safety hazards, a dangerous road, or a junction you feel is dangerous, or request speed restriction measures on a certain road, click the link here: https://lewisham.gov.uk/myservices/roads-and-transport/road-safety/road-safety

The SNT is conducting weekly contact points in Lewisham Hospital, including the Ladywell unit, to support residents in reporting criminal behaviour in the Hospital and Ladywell Fields area, offering reassurance, reporting incidents and what action will be taken.

It was reported that a small “crime scene” in Church Grove had been established as “old bones” were found and removed for investigation. The Panel was presented with local crime figures below:
