Talk to Lewisham Local’s Emma if you are a budding volunteer or a community group looking for support

Emma Prior recently became the volunteering support coordinator at Lewisham Local, a community support charity. Previously, she worked with Brockley Max and Deptford X Festival recruiting, training and managing groups of 80+ volunteers. Here Emma explains the volunteer suupport services she offers through Lewisham Local.

I am the Volunteering Support Coordinator at Lewisham Local. Since I started in February, I have delivered a Volunteering Brokerage service to help Lewisham residents to find volunteering opportunities in their communities.

You can find me every Thursday at the Lewisham Irish Centre, from 10.30-12.30. During the session, I conduct a skill audit to find out more about your experience, abilities and interests so I can spot a good volunteering match for you.

I also offer 1:1 session in person, over the phone and online, for those who might not be ableto attend the Irish Centre sessions.

Individuals can sign to my monthly volunteering newsletter here and received plenty of volunteer opportunities on offer – Lewisham Local Landing Page (mailchi.mp)

Additionally, I run an advisory service for Volunteer Managers and Coordinators, wishing to get some guidance and information that can help them to build a strong volunteer program.

This is supported by quarterly network events where I provide training opportunities to professionals and community groups working with volunteers.

My next event will take place on Tuesday September 24, focusing on Skilled and Corporate Volunteer, with guest speaker Will Foreman from Link Up London.

Introduction to Skilled and Corporate Volunteering Tickets, Tue, Sep 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM Eventbrite – the event has sold out but please reach out if you are interested to attend as we might have some last minute spare tickets.

There will be also another event in October. Tips and Resources to create Fundraising (and any!) Volunteer Role Tickets, Tue 22 Oct 2024 at 12:00 Eventbrite.

I have a knowledge of many different groups operating in Lewisham and know a good network of professionals I work with, to help volunteers. If you have any questions or need assistance, looking for volunteer opportunities, do not hesitate to contact me at volunteering@lewishamlocal.com
