The next Ladywell Assembly, delayed because of the election, will be held on Wednesday December 18 from 7.00pm until 9.00pm at St Andrews Centre, Brockley Road.

Don’t miss it. Come along and make your voice heard.

On the agenda will be:

Safer neighbourhood team: The team will update the assembly from on what measures are being taken to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour in Ladywell. They will take questions.

Neighbourhood community infrastructure levy: When new building takes place in Lewisham, developers are charged a fee called Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). This money is used for improvements to the environment or services in the borough, such as changes to a road layout or better street lighting to make an area safer. A quarter of the money levied from developers is assigned to the local community – this is NCIL

Residents decide how NCIL should be spent via their Ward Assembly. Examples include improving a local Community Centre, creating activities for young people, or providing services for isolated adults. You can tell us your ideas online at www.lewisham.gov.uk/ncil before midnight December 11 or come to the Assembly and share them in person.

Bakerloo Line Extension Consultation: TfL is proposing to extend the Bakerloo line beyond Elephant & Castle to Lewisham, serving Old Kent Road and New Cross Gate. The extension would offer a new direct link into Central London, with connections to every other Underground line; provide an Underground train every two to three minutes from Lewisham across London; relieve congestion on roads, reducing CO2 emissions and air pollution; and reduce journey times along the extension to Central London by up to nine minutes.

TfL wants your views on areas including: the alignment of the tunnels under the Old Kent Road in Southwark to
New Cross Gate and Lewisham; new station names; locations of TfL’s preferred worksite; a possible further extension to Hayes via Ladywell, Catford and Lower Sydenham.

An officer from TfL will be at this meeting to provide further information about the scheme and to take any questions you may have.

For more information and to give your views, please visit: tfl.gov.uk/bakerloo-extension and respond by Sunday 22 December 2019.

Ward Boundary change and Ladywell Playtower: Save Ladywell Campaign Group will be looking out for news of the Local Government Boundary Commission proposals for new ward boundaries on December 17. Following a magnificent campaign to keep Ladywell ward by many local residents, it is hoped that the Boundary Commission would have taken residents’ messages on board – Come along to the Ladywell Assembly meeting on December 18 to find out more.

Ladywell Playtower update: Get the latest update on the proposed restoration of the Ladywell Playtower.

Ladywell Assembly Website: We’re here for you! ‘Ladywell Live’ is an Assembly initiative designed to showcase what’s happening in the area. The website aims to promote activities and events run by local groups, schools and organisations as well as issues raised at the Local Assembly meeting. That’s everything from parking, traffic congestion and pollution; to planning issues; the Playtower; and  anti-social behaviour. It’s also for Ladywell residents to raise concerns and hopefully to help drive change. If you want to publicise events or activities or raise concerns about issues in the community, send your information to contact@ladywell-live.org

Community Updates:  Your chance to tell people what’s happening in your area. If you would like to update the assembly on anything, please let us know when you sign in at the meeting and we will try to give you a forum to promote your news either at the Assembly meeting or by featuring your news on the newly developed Assembly website.

If you cannot attend the meeting but would like to give your views, please contact the Ladywell Assembly Coordinator, Adeyinka Joseph, on 0208 314 6026 or email adeyinka.joseph@lewisham.gov.uk
